Calvary University Names Cameron Coleman as Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Calvary University Athletics and its president Dr. Alexander Granados are proud to announce the hiring of Cameron Coleman as the new Assistant Athletic Director and Head Women’s Basketball Coach. A former professional player and dynamic leader, Coleman brings a unique blend of high-level playing experience, coaching insight, and Christ-centered leadership to the Lady Warriors. 

“The athletic department and I could not be more excited to have Coach Coleman as our next women’s basketball coach and assistant athletic director,” said Matt Sanders, Athletic Director at Calvary University. “We are so grateful for the Lord sending him to us. He had an incredible career as a player and also as a coach at the college level and overseas. We think Coach Coleman is going to bring a wonderful energy and passion for discipleship and championship culture to our women’s program that is coming off two championships in a row. We believe he will create an even stronger winning culture going forward.” 

Coleman was a standout at York University, where he earned NAIA All-American honors in 2016 and 2017. He spent some time on the coaching staff at York after his collegiate career before he went on to play professionally overseas for seven years, gaining valuable experience at the international level. 

Family is a central part of Coach Coleman’s life. Once married, he and his fiancée Janell Beacham, who played collegiate women’s basketball at Oklahoma Baptist University, are excited to make their home in the Calvary community and invest in the lives of student-athletes both on and off the court.  

“It’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to be a part of Calvary University,” said Coleman. “I’m excited to have my family’s journey align with what we believe to be a blessing. I can’t wait to make an impact on and off the court in these student-athlete’s lives. I look forward to sharing my experience and helping them develop into leaders.” 

Coleman steps into the role as the Lady Warriors aim to build on back-to-back championship seasons. His leadership marks an exciting new era for Calvary women’s basketball.
