ASSISTANT PASTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
WHO WE ARE:
Antioch Community Church is an inter-denominational church located in
Kansas City, MO. Our church was organized in 1853 as a Christian Church
and later reorganized as a Community Church in 1930. We are a small,
friendly congregation eager to grow our church family as we serve and
lead in the church outreach and mission ministries. ACC is self governed
by a Board of Elders and Deacons elected annually. Antioch Community
Church’s mission is to proclaim the good news of abundant life in Christ
through meaningful worship; to provide lifelong spiritual nurture; and to be
an agent for justice and mercy to any who suffer in body and spirit.
ASSISTANT PASTOR JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a part-time Assistant Pastor to work beside the Senior
Pastor in addressing the leadership needs and day to day operations
within the church and community. Some formal Bible and ministry training
is preferred. Candidates who have not yet completed a degree will be
considered for the position. Having an interest in music ministry is a plus.
The successful candidate will have a willingness to work with the Senior
Pastor in an apprentice-like role. Weekly time commitment is 18 hours
which will include Saturday evening/Sunday morning services and
occasional evening responsibilities. Starting date is July 1, 2025.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Pastor will be directly responsible to the Senior Pastor as a
facilitator of Antioch Community Church’s ministry. This position will assist
the Senior Pastor into leading the church congregation into a growing,
loving, dependent relationship with Jesus Christ. Responsibilities will
include but not limited to the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Perform general pastoral ministries of the church such as pastoral
care, teaching, counseling, recruitment, visitation, etc.
– Assist in the organization and execution of educational programs
for youth and adults
– Develop opportunities for fellowship activities and ministry
skill development as schedules and resources permit
– Assist in planning and leading church events including Saturday
evening and Sunday services
– Maintain familiarity with the work of the ministry teams
and assist with the implementation of ideas and plans
that emerge from the ministry teams.
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
– Self-motivated, organized, energetic person with a heart for Jesus
Christ
– Possess a clear sense of God’s call to ministry
– Demonstrate ability to set goals, create momentum and
reach the desired conclusion.
– Team Player-exemplifies spiritual servitude to accomplish
our mission
– Experience assisting or leading youth and adult ministry teams
– A deep love for people; humble and joyful
– Communicate with a sense of warmth, openness and
approachability
– A driven desire to serve and grow a ministry
Other opportunities/duties (such as pulpit ministry, team leadership, etc.)

are evaluated and assessed.
