Answer: At Calvary’s Christian Ministry Fair

Last Thursday, our students had the opportunity to visit with those representing various local churches and get an idea of which one might be the best fit for them. All new students spend their first semester searching for a church, so the Fair helps them form a list of places to visit in person. Besides churches, students could also learn more about some organizations like camps and missions where they could fulfill their Christian Ministry requirements in the future.

Dr. Cone gave his inaugural address.
One week ago, Dr. Christopher Cone was officially inaugurated as the President of Calvary University. We were honored to have several delegates, special guests and, of course, the students, faculty, and staff on hand to witness the investiture of our new president. Dr. James Clark, President Emeritus, gave the charge to Dr. Cone on this grand occasion, and the Board of Trustees along with President Emeritus Dr. Elwood Chipchase prayerfully dedicated the new president to the Lord. During his time at the podium, Dr. Cone addressed the challenges that Calvary faces in the culture today and gave his plan of action for overcoming those challenges with godly excellence.

Convocation Chapel
Wednesday was the first Chapel of the semester, and we started the year, just as we did last fall, with the Convocation Chapel. The faculty wore regalia and walked in a processional before lining the center aisle and clapping for the new students who entered through a “Tunnel of Teachers!” Joel Lyons, the Student Senate President, gave a charge and welcomed the new students to Calvary. Dr. Cone encouraged them with a reminder that God loves each of them and will be with them along each step of the journey that lies ahead. The Convocation was a fitting way to begin a new school year with the proper focus.
