Do you know a Calvary graduate who deserves to be honored as the 2017 Alumnus of the Year? Please fill out the contact form here with your nomination and a paragraph describing his or her qualifications. The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 3. Please help me compile a list of worthy individuals from which the President’s Cabinet will choose an honoree. Weekly Portraits of Calvary Life
Dale Losch speaking in Chapel
Missions Emphasis Week was, as always, a meaningful and convicting time of special focus on the Great Commission. Dale Losch was the keynote speaker, and his Chapel messages each centered on a single word – love, live, work, and go. Mr. Losch is the president of Crossworld, a mission agency with, what I believe to be, a unique focus on sending disciple-makers from all professions into the world’s least-reached marketplaces. We also had the opportunity to learn from missionaries and mission representatives from Brazil Gospel Fellowship, Biblical Ministries Worldwide, Village Missions, Pioneers, UIM International, Association of North American Missions, New Tribes, Children’s Evangelistic Ministries, TEAM, Send, Fellowship International Mission, Avant, and Rockies Southwest Bible Church Extension. Our prayer is that the ultimate result of this Missions Emphasis Week would be souls saved and God glorified.

Weekly Portraits of Calvary Life
Tasha Krahn (#21) shoots over her defender while Rilee Walquist (#23) watches from the perimeter.
On Tuesday evening, the Calvary basketball teams both recorded victories over Ozark Christian College! The women won 67-48 and were led in scoring by Rilee Walquist. Coach Tressa Shoemaker’s team is short-handed right now due to injuries, so the six available players are working extra hard. The men’s score was 86-72 and ended a three-game losing streak for the team and Coach Matt Sanders. Hajj Green was the leading scorer on Tuesday with twenty-one points. Zeb Green also contributed seventeen points and fifteen rebounds. The final home games of the season are this weekend (see below), so come on out and cheer for the Warriors!
(l to r) Caleb Haney (#24), Kalif Spraggins, Kameron Wiebe (#34), Zeb Green, and Hajj Green (#23) look to the sideline from their on-court huddle.

Weekly Portraits of Calvary Life
Dr. Luther Smith spoke in Chapel on Wednesday.
This spring semester has brought some new faces to Calvary’s student body, faculty, and staff. One of the new, full-time faculty is Dr. Luther Smith, who is now serving as an Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling. Dr. Luther Smith recently moved here from California with his wife and daughter. On Wednesday, Dr. Smith spoke in Chapel and encouraged all of us to remember that our God cares. A new part of chapel this school year is a question and answer time with the speaker following his message. Dr. Smith fielded questions and gave practical answers for applying this truth to our lives.

Spring Semester Has Begun
Cory Trowbridge, Vice President of Student Services, spoke to the new students during Orientation on Monday.
Things returned to “normal” this week, and by “normal” I mean, students on campus, meals in the dining hall, Chapel, and, of course, classes! We are excited to welcome several new students this semester and also happy to have many returning ones. Would you take a moment to pray for us? Pray that new students, faculty, and staff will have a smooth transition to life at Calvary. Pray that students will manage their homework and study time well amidst basketball season, rehearsals for Beauty and the Beast, work, and Christian ministry responsibilities. Finally, pray that we would all “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
