Calvary University Named in Top 25 “Best Online Colleges for History Degrees”

The SR Education Group recently researched 928 schools, and listed Calvary University in their Top 25 list for “Best Online Colleges for History Degrees.” Calvary offers a Bachelor of Arts in History, much of which can be taken online or on campus, or through Calvary’s collaborative Professional Directed Studies program. Calvary University is excited about the ranking, as it reflects a continued commitment to academic excellence, affordability, and accessibility.

Feasting On Gratitude Auction-Style

Feasting On Gratitude Auction-Style

Is there anything better than gathering together with 182 close friends and having a great BBQ pulled-pork dinner with Jack Stack’s BBQ beans, cheesy corn, and coleslaw?  Who wouldn’t want to taste Joe Dapra’s homemade dinner rolls and chocolate chip cookies and then have a chance to bid on 92 items at the Feast and Fund Auction? Calvary University presented its first public event inside the newly remodeled Student Life Center on the evening of March 2nd, and we had a grand old time.

The beautiful Friday evening allowed people to come from all over the Greater Kansas City area to bid on items with a wide variety of interest. The auction had everything from half a side of pork to an HO scale model train set, a three-day deer hunt to paintings and drawings from local artists as well as Calvary University’s own students and their skill sets. The purpose of the evening was to raise funds to help defray the cost of education for the Calvary students and to help purchase new mattresses for the dorm. We are proud to announce both goals were accomplished! The night brought a grand total of $41,874.74, for which we are grateful. We offer our special thanks to our gold sponsors for the evening, Bill and Debi Keeney, Pearce Construction, and Heritage Benefits. Also, a special recognition goes out to our auctioneer for the evening, Mr. Doug Delozier, who did a fantastic job of keeping the crowd entertained and bidding.

If you did not get an opportunity to be a part of this event, next year the auction will be held on March 1, 2019, at the Calvary University Student Life Center. Hope to see you there! We will once again be looking for items throughout the year to make this event bigger and better than this year.

Calvary Named One of the Twenty Most Affordable Private Colleges in the United States

Calvary Named One of the Twenty Most Affordable Private Colleges in the United States

Student Loan Hero recently completed a study showing that many graduates of many colleges end up with more student debt than those of public colleges. But there are some important exceptions: “according to new Student Loan Hero college rankings, some nonprofit private colleges are worth a second look — even for cost-conscious college applicants. If you’ve been dreaming of the private-college experience on a public-college budget, start your search with this list of the 20 most cost-effective private colleges.” Calvary is ranked #9 on the list of the top 20 most cost-effective private colleges in the United States.

The ranking is a reflection of Calvary University’s ongoing commitment to reducing educational costs while increasing educational quality. Earlier this year Calvary University reduced all of its tuition rates and introduced a $250 per credit hour tuition rate for Military and Veterans studying at the undergraduate and graduate level, and a $250 per credit hour tuition rate for people in full-time ministry.

Featured Auction Item-Rarotonga-Style Antler Carving

Featured Auction Item-Rarotonga-Style Antler Carving

At the upcoming March 2 Feast and Fund Auction, hosted by Calvary University in the new Student Life Center, several unique items will make their way to the platform.  One such item will be a creation from one of Calvary U’s very own students!

Having studied under a master carver while visiting the island of Rarotonga, Kathryn Phillips is now a talented and experienced carver herself. The auction will exhibit her latest Rarotonga-style carving: deer antlers (not pictured here).  From the heritage of the far reaches of the Rarotonga Island, these beautiful carvings pictured below display the impeccable talent of one of our very own. The highest bidder will take away the masterpiece!
