The mission of the English department is to train graduates who can write effectively, creatively, and persuasively and who reflect the image of God with sound thinking, artful expression, thoughtful literary analysis, and a commitment to the biblical worldview.

Areas of focus include: Creative Writing, Research Writing, Literature, Rhetoric.

  • Create stories that honor God in their skillful and imaginative command of narration, plot, setting, character development, conflict, and theme.
  • Demonstrate an ability to think critically, consider the merits and flaws of opposing viewpoints, and synthesize responses.
